Barrack Zone Community Hosts 2025 End-of-Year Bonding Event Emphasizing Skills Development for Children
Parents urged to actively involve their children in skill acquisition to foster self-reliance in the future.
This call was made by Engr. Umar Haliru, chairman of the Barrack Zone community, during the end-of-year Reflection and Community Bonding Event held at Arrayan School in the Brighter area of Minna.
Engr. Umar Haliru emphasized that beyond traditional education such as Qur’an or Bible studies, parents should proactively expose their children to practical skills early on. This approach aims to prepare them to become self reliance and employers of labor in the future, rather than relying solely on Scarce white-collar jobs.
He also noted that involving children in skill development outside school hours can help prevent them from negative influences and harmful behaviors.
The chairman expressed appreciation to community members who have significantly contributed to the development of Barrack Zone, noting that all forms of support are valuable and encouraging others to follow their example.
He highlighted ongoing efforts to address electricity and water supply issues in the area, mentioning collaborations with relevant authorities to resolve these problems promptly.
Additionally, he called on community members to regularly pay their dues, which support law and order through temporary staff.
During the event, several community members received the Community Impact Award for their notable contributions.
In his concluding remarks, Dr. Adamu Yakubu Dakogi, a respected community figure with a street named after him,praised the leadership’s ongoing efforts to improve development and security in the community.
He reaffirmed his support, emphasizing that support can include advice and other contributions.
