NEW YEAR MESSAGE FROM THE HONOURABLE COMMISSIONER OF ENVIRONMENT AND CLIMATE CHANGE, NIGER STATE.
As the year 2025 has ended, I join His Excellency, Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago in extending my heartfelt gratitude to the good people of Niger State for their resilience, cooperation, and unwavering support toward our collective vision of building a cleaner, safer, and more climate-resilient environment in line with the New Niger Agenda.
The preceded year has presented both challenges and remarkable progress, and together we have continued to demonstrate that environmental stewardship is a shared responsibility.
Across the state, we owe it a duty to working tirelessly with Farmer Governor to safeguard our forests, restore degraded lands, strengthen environmental governance, promote climate-smart initiatives, and enhance transparency in the environmental sector. Our partnerships with communities, civil society, development partners, academia, and the private sector have continued to reflect the spirit of collaboration that drives sustainable development in Niger State.
As we are ushered into a new year, I encourage all residents to renew their commitment to supporting Farmer Governor’s environmental related initiatives, policies and programmes as it’s tilted towards protecting our forests, water bodies, and natural resources as well as natural heritage. Let us embrace responsible waste management, tree planting, climate conscious lifestyles, and continued vigilance in safeguarding our environment. The Ministry remains committed to advancing policies and programmes that will secure a healthy and prosperous Niger for present and future generations.
On behalf of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, I wish you and your families a joyful festive season and a peaceful, prosperous New Year.
May the New year bring greater opportunities, unity, and environmental progress for our beloved Niger State.
Signed:
Hon. Abubakar Musa
Honourable Commissioner,
