SA, SSAs Extend Profound Condolences to NUJ President and Gombe Council over Fatal Loss of Seven Journalists
The Special Advisers and Special Assistants have expressed their deepest sympathies to Comrade Alhassan Yahya, President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), and the Gombe State Council, following the tragic death of seven union members in a fatal road accident.

In a formal statement, the NUJ characterized the incident as a significant and sorrowful loss to the union, the journalism profession, and the nation. They acknowledged the dedication, integrity, and courage of the deceased journalists, emphasizing their important contributions to responsible journalism and democratic development in Gombe State and Nigeria.
The statement highlighted that the untimely passing of the seven journalists leaves a substantial void within the Union, especially at a critical time when the media plays a vital role in fostering national progress, accountability, and good governance.
The officials conveyed heartfelt condolences to Comrade Yahya, the leadership and members of the Gombe NUJ Council, the families of the deceased, and the broader media community.
They prayed for Allah’s comfort and strength for the bereaved families, colleagues, and friends, as well as for the NUJ leadership during this difficult period.
Furthermore, they urged journalists nationwide to remain united and prayerful, honoring the departed by upholding professionalism, ethical standards, and a steadfast commitment to duty.
