DSS Dismisses 115 Personnel, Issues Warning Against Impostors
The Department of State Services (DSS) has announced the dismissal of 115 personnel and is warning the public to avoid engaging with anyone claiming to be a serving officer of the agency.
In a statement posted on X on Tuesday, the DSS explained that this action is part of ongoing internal reforms within the service. “As part of the ongoing reforms in the Department of State Services (DSS), we inform the public that a total of 115 personnel have been dismissed over a period,” the statement read.
The agency also referenced previous public notices disowning individuals identified as Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin. It added that some dismissed personnel continue to pose as DSS operatives in order to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians.
“Members of the public are advised to refrain from any official dealings with these individuals who have been dismissed by the Service,” the DSS stated. The identities of all affected former personnel have been published on its official website.
“For clarity, the identities of the dismissed personnel have been made available on the Service’s website,” the agency added, directing citizens to visit dss.gov.ng for verification.
Furthermore, the DSS has announced that it will arraign two of its dismissed staff members, Barry Donald and Victor Godwin, who were arrested for allegedly engaging in fraudulent activities.
Previously, the agency had issued two public warnings regarding the dismissed officers who were reportedly impersonating the DSS to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians.
