Organised Labour Monitors Ongoing Strike Action by NASU NSUBEB in Niger State.

The Organised Labour in Niger State, under the leadership of Comrade Idrees Abdulkareem Lafene and Comrade Arc Ibrahim Gana, has actively monitored the ongoing strike action initiated by the National Association of Academic Technologists (NASU) at the Niger State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB).
Comrade Erena highlighted that the decision to strike was a last resort following continued violations of civil service rules by the NSUBEB Chairman. Specific grievances cited included:
– Instances of illegal appointments within the board
– The improper substitution of career civil servants at level 17 by individuals from levels 13 and 14, contravening established ethics
– Efforts to abolish the Department of Administration and Finance
Despite prior negotiations between the Organised Labour leadership and the NSUBEB Chairman, no satisfactory agreement could be reached, prompting the continuation of the strike until the outlined demands are addressed.
The Chairman of NASU NSUBEB, Comrade Jamillu Kilishi, expressed gratitude for the solidarity shown by the Organised Labour. He noted that past meetings with labour leaders had not yielded results, emphasizing the sentiment that “an injury to one is an injury to all.”
The monitoring session saw participation from prominent figures, including Comrade Abubakar Takuma (Vice Chairman), Comrade Adamu Akayago (Treasurer, NLC), and Comrade Maria Musa (Acting Secretary, NLC), along with other SEC members.
As the strike persists, the Organised Labour remains resolute, reminding all involved that “Aluta Continua, Victoria Ascerta”—the struggle continues, and victory is certain.
