Governor Bago Inaugurates GSM Complex in Kontagora, Promoting Economic Growth.

By Yahaya Zakka Minna.

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has officially commissioned a Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) complex in Kontagora, a significant step towards enhancing local business infrastructure.

The complex, constructed under the leadership of the Kontagora local government council chairman, Alh. Shehu Pawa, aims to support economic activities in the region.

During the inauguration, Governor Bago commended the council chairman for his efforts, highlighting the complex as a vital dividend of democracy.

He emphasized its potential for job creation, reinforcement of existing businesses, and a boost in socio-economic interactions within the area.

In a noteworthy gesture of support, the governor announced a donation of N50 million to the GSM Association, designed to assist its members in their business endeavors.

Additionally, he revealed that Abdullahi Idris Garba, the representative for Kontagora/Wushishi/Mariga/Mashegu Federal Constituency, will provide a vehicle, further facilitating logistical support for the association.

Sanusi Umar, vice chairman of the GSM Association in Kontagora, expressed the timeliness of the new complex, emphasizing the need for a dedicated structure for their operations after years of conducting business without adequate facilities.

He urged for a permanent establishment to accommodate the association’s nine units scattered across the eight local government areas of the Niger North Senatorial District, comprising over 13,000 members.

In recognition of his transformative leadership and its impact on socio-economic development in Niger State, the GSMA presented Governor Bago with an award of excellence.

Following the ceremony, the governor inspected the Kontagora bypass road and instructed the immediate repair of damaged streetlights along the route.
