High Court Grants Interim Injunction in Favor of Badeggi Radio Broadcasting Services Ltd.

The High Court of Justice in Niger State has granted an interim injunction in favor of Badeggi Radio Broadcasting Services Ltd, effectively restraining the state government and its agencies from taking any adverse actions against the broadcasting company.

On August 5, 2025, Justice Mohammed S.A. Mohammed ruled in favor of the applicants, Badeggi Radio Broadcasting Services Ltd and its Managing Director, Mohammed Shuaibu Badeggi, following a motion ex-parte brought before the court.

The application cited various provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), and the National Broadcasting Commission Act, among others.

The court’s decision prevents the respondents, including the Executive Governor of Niger State, the Attorney General, and the Niger State Urban Development Board, from engaging in any actions that could jeopardize the company’s broadcasting license or business operations located at the N.T.A. Compound, Uphill Minna.

In delivering the ruling, Justice Mohammed emphasized the importance of maintaining the status quo pending the determination of the substantive motion.

The interim order specifically prohibits actions such as revocation, withdrawal, seizure, or any forceful entry and demolition at the broadcasting premises.

Counsel to the applicants, Philip K. Emmanuel Esq, expressed satisfaction with the court’s ruling, highlighting its significance for the protection of the applicants’ rights and interests.

The matter has been scheduled for further hearing, allowing for a comprehensive examination of the issues at stake on the 14th of August, 2025.
