CP Niger Meets with INEC REC to Enhance Security Collaboration for Upcoming Elections.
The Commissioner of Police for Niger State, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, recently welcomed Alhaji Ahmed Yusha’u Garki, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and his team during a courtesy visit to the State Police Command Headquarters in Minna.
In a press release from the Command’s Spokesperson, SP W.A. Abiodun, it was noted that the REC expressed satisfaction with the ongoing collaboration between INEC and the police since 2022, describing it as both cordial and productive.
Garki’s visit aimed to formally welcome the CP and discuss the upcoming State House of Assembly Bye-Election for Munya Constituency, scheduled for August 16, 2025.
He emphasized the importance of notifying the police about the elections, given the sensitive nature of the areas involved.
Garki highlighted the crucial role of security in ensuring a smooth electoral process and called for enhanced support and collaboration between INEC and the police to facilitate the peaceful conduct of the bye-elections and to meet the Commission’s objectives.
In response, CP Elleman welcomed Garki and his team, expressing gratitude for the established relationship between the two organizations.
He assured Garki of the Niger State Police Command’s commitment to fostering cooperation and collaboration to achieve the goals of the electoral commission.
