NBA Minna Branch Condemns Killing of Soldiers in Mariga, Calls for Justice and Stronger Security Measures
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Minna Branch, has strongly condemned the brutal killing of military personnel in Kwanan Dutse and Gulbin Boka communities of Mariga Local Government Area, describing the incident as a grievous affront to national security and a disturbing escalation of lawlessness in the state.
In a statement issued in Minna on Thursday, the Chairman of the Branch, Isyaku Barau, Esq., expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident, stating that the gruesome killing of soldiers who had been actively engaged in protecting vulnerable communities represents not only an assault on the armed forces but a direct attack on the soul of the Nigerian State.
“The Nigerian Bar Association, Minna Branch, is profoundly saddened by the killing of these gallant officers whose presence had brought a measure of peace to communities now once again plunged into fear and uncertainty,” Barau said. “This is not only a wicked and barbaric act, but it is also a calculated attempt to dislodge the security architecture and empower agents of terror.”
He noted with grave concern that the attack is a clear indication of the deteriorating security situation in Mariga and its environs, which, if left unchecked, may further embolden criminal elements to intensify their onslaught on innocent citizens.
“This heinous act must not go unpunished,” the statement added. “The perpetrators must be brought to justice swiftly and decisively. We urge the military and all relevant security agencies to deploy every lawful and constitutional means to ensure that those behind this atrocity are apprehended and made to face the full wrath of the law.”
Barau further emphasized that the rule of law and the protection of life and property remain the bedrock of any democratic society and that continued attacks of this nature pose a significant threat to the foundations of justice and national stability.
He expressed the Association’s solidarity with the Nigerian Armed Forces and the families of the fallen officers, while also calling on the Niger State Government and the Federal Government to strengthen inter-agency intelligence coordination and increase support for military operations in rural flashpoints across the state.
“In moments like these, silence is not an option. We must rise, not only to mourn the dead, but to protect the living,” he concluded
