Niger State Governor Umaru Bago Attends Federal Government Inauguration of Over 2,000 Tractors.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed renewed optimism that agricultural mechanization is yielding positive results with the launch of over 2,000 tractors and other agricultural implements.
He stated that his administration has procured more than 2,000 tractors, 50 industrial land preparation machines, 12 fully equipped mobile workshops, 8,000 ploughs, specialized farming equipment, and various mechanized tools. When fully deployed, these resources will cultivate over 5 million hectares of agricultural land.
President Tinubu explained that this intervention will create numerous jobs, produce large quantities of food, and transition farmers from traditional methods to advanced mechanized farming practices.
Senator Dr. Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, the Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, and Senator Abubakar Kyari, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, emphasized that the procurement of these agricultural implements marks a significant milestone in the country’s history.
Victor Karankevich, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, commended President Tinubu’s administration for fostering a partnership aimed at enhancing food security and agricultural prosperity.
Accompanied by notable figures, including Niger State Governor and farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, President Tinubu launched and inspected the agricultural mechanization initiatives.
Under President Tinubu’s leadership, the federal government has deployed more than two thousand pieces of heavy-duty agricultural equipment to boost food production across the country.
This multi-billion-dollar initiative, delivered in partnership with Belarus, represents the most significant agricultural mechanization effort in Nigeria’s history.
The tractors, which have been assembled in Abuja, were procured through a mechanization partnership formalized in September 2024.
This partnership also includes the deployment of 9,072 assorted agricultural implements designed to support various farming operations beyond the tractors.
To maximize impact, the tractors will be distributed through three key schemes:
1. Direct Purchase: For individuals and organizations wishing to acquire tractors outright.
2.Leasing Schemes:Offering affordable access to mechanization without the full costs of ownership.
3. Service Provider Model: Establishing tractor service centers in farming communities to enable smallholder farmers to lease tractors as needed.
Additionally, President Tinubu and Governor Umaru Bago inaugurated the Baban Shada/Pai road project, constructed by the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja.
