Inspector-General of Police Promotes Unity and Security During Eid-al-Adha Celebrations.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has extended heartfelt wishes to the Muslim community across the nation as they celebrate the auspicious occasion of Eid-al-Adha during the sacred month of Dhul-Hijjah.
In a statement released by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi from the Force Public Relations Department, the IGP emphasized the importance of fostering values such as tolerance, compassion, and the virtuous practices exemplified by past prophets in Islam, which contribute to peaceful coexistence and national unity.
To ensure a safe and peaceful celebration, the IGP has implemented enhanced security measures nationwide. Commissioners of Police, Tactical Commanders, and their supervising Assistant Inspectors-General of Police have been directed to reinforce security at Eid prayer gatherings, recreational areas, and other public spaces.
Officers will conduct intelligence-led patrols, surveillance operations, and strategic stop-and-search initiatives to mitigate potential security concerns during this festive period.
Furthermore, the IGP encourages all Nigerians to embody law-abiding behavior, celebrating in harmony and brotherhood. He highlights the month of Dhul-Hijjah as a time for reflection and gratitude to the Almighty, urging individuals to share generously with those in need.
The IGP also calls upon the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or individuals to the nearest security agency, reinforcing that the maintenance of law and order is a shared responsibility.
He then reaffirms the steadfast commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to ensure public safety, promote unity, and uphold law and order across the nation.
