NDLEA Seizes AK-47, Substantial Drug Haul in Coordinated Operations Across Nigeria
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) recently apprehended a 29-year-old man, Ismail Isah, who was found concealing an AK-47 rifle along with two magazines inside a sack of maize.
This significant arrest took place on Friday, May 16, during a routine patrol along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway, as announced by Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy.
In a separate incident in Taraba, officers recovered 5,350 pills of tramadol and diazepam from 22-year-old Shafiu Ismail, who was arrested on Thursday, May 15, in the Sabon-layin area of Jalingo LGA. On the same day, Tijjani Mohammed, 35, was also apprehended in Jigawa with 198kg of skunk.
Further operations in Niger led to the interception of a Toyota Carina, registration number AGL 945 BK, carrying 316 blocks of skunk weighing 143 kg. The driver, Idris Kamal, 35, was detained for questioning.
Additionally, the NDLEA arrested Emmanuel Hassan, 26, at Chachi junction along Kaduna Road on Thursday, May 15, with 14.3kg of Loud. A follow-up operation led to the capture of Bello Aliyu, 39, the true owner of the seized consignment.
In another notable operation, Welman Kengbo, 60, was caught with 594.8kg of skunk in the Karu area of Nasarawa State on May 16.
Finally, Oyenuga Toheeb was arrested on the Lekki/Epe Expressway in Lagos State on Thursday, May 15, possessing 67.5kg of the same psychoactive substance.
The NDLEA continues to intensify its efforts against drug trafficking and illegal arms possession to enhance national security and public safety.
