Ramadan/Lent: Nigerian Army Hosts Interfaith Dinner for Muslims, Christians in Niger State

The Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) of the Nigerian Army recently hosted an interfaith dinner to bring together Muslims and Christians for a communal breaking of fast during the Ramadan and Lenten seasons, promoting unity among the faiths.
Major General Kevin Aligbe, the Commander of TRADOC, emphasized the significance of the event in his address, stating that it extends beyond merely abstaining from food and drink.
He highlighted the importance of sacrifice and self-reflection during fasting, noting that, regardless of one’s faith, fasting serves as a sacrifice that brings us closer to our Maker.
Aligbe also stressed the necessity for Nigerians to pray for their leaders, including the presidency, state governors, ministers, and members of the armed forces.
He recognized the sacrifices made by military personnel deployed in various operations, saying, “We owe it to them to make their families feel secure while they are away.”
He expressed gratitude to the government and people of Niger State for their support and hospitality, promising that the Nigerian Army would reciprocate this kindness by ensuring greater security in the state and beyond.
Earlier in the evening, Brigadier General Dantani Danjuma, the Acting Director of Examinations at TRADOC, welcomed guests and remarked that the fasting period is a time for prayer, charity, self-improvement, and a reminder that diversity is a source of strength and commitment.
He encouraged attendees to enjoy the feast and thanked the Commander of TRADOC for providing financial support and opportunities for people of both faiths to come together.
Danjuma extended prayers for peace, progress, and ongoing unity, urging everyone to uphold the values of tolerance and respect for one another.
The event, attended by military personnel, government officials, and civilians, aimed to foster unity and interfaith harmony.
