FIDA: Empowering Women A Call to Action for Equality and Mentorship

During a recent event commemorating Women’s Day 2025, themed “Accelerating Action on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality through Mentorship and Empowerment,” the Chief Judge of Niger State, Justice Halima Abdulmalik, delivered a powerful message.
Represented by Justice Maimuna Aminu Abubakar,emphasized the crucial role women must play in breaking the longstanding silence that has hindered their progress.
Justice Abubakar encouraged women to share their personal journeys, including both their triumphs and challenges.
“When we share our stories, we not only uplift others but also break the chains that have held women back for too long,” she stated.
She highlighted that empowerment must reach every level of society, ensuring that women have access to the resources, skills, and platforms necessary to claim their rights.
As the day unfolded, a call was made for women of all ages and backgrounds to actively pursue their dreams without limitations.
Barrister Bolanle Ajibogun, Chairman of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), underscored the challenges faced by women and girls, advocating for better education and economic opportunities.
She stated that FIDA’s Niger State chapter is committed to promoting gender equality and social justice.
Barrister Ajibogun emphasized the importance of inspiring collaboration among partners, stakeholders, and community leaders to combat systemic inequalities that perpetuate gender-based discrimination and violence.
“We must work collaboratively to create a society where every woman and girl can thrive,” she urged.
The event served as a crucial moment for reflection and action in the ongoing struggle for women’s rights and gender equity.
