NAWOJ Calls for Reflection, Unity, and Compassion as Ramadan Begins
As the holy month of Ramadan commences, the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) extends heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all Muslims in Nigeria and beyond.
This sacred period presents an opportunity for profound reflection, spiritual renewal, and unwavering devotion to Almighty Allah. Ramadan serves not only as a time for fasting, prayer, and self-discipline but also emphasizes the importance of compassion, generosity, and unity.
In our capacity as women in the media, we recognize the critical role of communication in fostering peace and understanding. We urge all women journalists to leverage their platforms to promote messages of harmony, tolerance, and social responsibility, particularly during these challenging economic and social times.
NAWOJ calls upon individuals, organizations, and government agencies to extend kindness and charity to the less privileged. Embracing the spirit of Zakat (charity) and Sadaqah (voluntary giving) is essential to strengthen our communities and ensure that no one is left behind.
Moreover, we advocate for peaceful coexistence among all religious and ethnic groups, as unity is fundamental to national progress. We encourage our fellow women journalists to uphold the highest ethical standards in reporting, ensuring that truth, fairness, and responsibility remain the cornerstones of our profession.
