National Examinations Council (NECO) releases 2024 SSCE external results

By Yahaya Zakka, Minna.

The National Examination Council (NECO) has announced the digitalization of staff annual posting calendar.

NECO Registrar, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, made this announcement on Friday at the Council’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State, during a press briefing where he also released the official results of the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (External), which took place on February 14, 2025.

Prof. Dantani stated that the digitalized process aims to meet staff members’ expectations regarding out-of-station assignments.

He explained that this change would ensure confidentiality and personalized access for staff. It was decided not to share the entire calendar publicly; instead, staff members will have the ability to access their postings individually.

Additionally, Professor Dantani mentioned that NECO has blacklisted 14 examination centers due to their involvement in examination malpractice across nine subjects.

These centers were identified in two South-West states, Ogun and Oyo. Ten centers in Ogun State and four centers in Oyo State were blacklisted.

He disclosed that the number of candidates listed for various forms of malpractice has decreased to 6,169, down from 8,518 in 2023, representing a 27.7 percent reduction.

Seven supervisors—two each from Oyo and Ogun, and one from each of Lagos, Cross River, and Ebonyi—have been blacklisted due to poor supervision, lateness, and for aiding and abetting malpractice during the examinations.

Overall, fourteen centers—ten in Ogun and four in Oyo—were blacklisted due to whole-center malpractice across nine subjects.
