Emir Sanusi II Wins as Appeal Court Dismisses Bayero’s Case.

In a significant development, the Appeal Court has ruled in favor of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II by dismissing the fundamental human rights case filed by Aminu Ado Bayero, the 15th Emir of Kano.
The court declared that Bayero’s case lacked merit and that the Federal High Court did not have jurisdiction to intervene in matters pertaining to the Kano State Emirate Council law.
The Appeal Court found that the principal reliefs sought by Bayero were outside the scope of fundamental human rights and that the case was fundamentally a chieftaincy matter.
The court referenced Section 251 of the constitution, which states that the Federal High Court lacks jurisdiction over chieftaincy matters.
Additionally, a Kano State High Court had previously restrained Bayero and four other former Emirs from claiming the title.
The Appeal Court’s ruling has further solidified Emir Sanusi II’s position, effectively resolving the dispute in his favor.
