Niger Speaker, Sarkindaji, Sends Christmas Greetings,urges Nigerians to Remain Patriotic Despite Challenges

As Christians around the world celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abdulmalik Sarkindaji, has called on Nigerians to remain patriotic and embrace the virtues exemplified by Jesus, despite the myriad challenges facing the nation.
In a statement released by the media directorate of the House of Assembly, Sarkindaji expressed his warm wishes to Christians both in Nigeria and worldwide. He emphasized the importance of recalling the teachings of Jesus Christ, which center around love, peace, and sacrifice.
Acknowledging the current economic difficulties in the country, Sarkindaji reminded Nigerians that hope is not lost. He reassured the public, stating, “There is always light at the end of the tunnel. Light can emerge even in the darkest times, bringing solace and hope.”
At this critical moment in our nation’s life, he stressed the need for patriotism among Nigerians of all faiths, affirming that “Indeed, God is with us.”
Sarkindaji also addressed the recent tragic incidents resulting from stampedes in Ibadan, Abuja, and Anambra states, noting that these events are a wake-up call for both leaders and citizens to re-examine their actions and make the necessary sacrifices for a better tomorrow. He described these incidents as unfortunate but preventable, had proper arrangements been made before such humanitarian efforts.
While extending his heartfelt condolences to the government and the families of those who lost their lives in the stampede, he prayed that such misfortunes do not affect our families and communities again.
Furthermore, the Speaker appealed to well-meaning Nigerians, stating, “As we celebrate this blessed season, let us be mindful of those facing difficulties. They are not far from us—our neighbors, family members, and the people we encounter daily, whether in places of worship, markets, offices, or boardrooms.”
He concluded by emphasizing that “Kindness transcends financial status. Those with modest means and those with abundance all need a smile or a word of encouragement.”
