Niger Pension Board urges retirees to shun dubious calls for percentage kickback on gratuity

The Niger State Pension Board has advised Pensioners to shun messages and calls people impersonating staff of the board offering to assist in accessing their gratuity and collect percentage explaining that those involved in such acts are dubious and not staff of the board.

The Director General of the Niger state Pension Board, Alhaji Nasiru Saidu Namaska stated this while flagging off the issuence of cheques for payment of gratuity to batch four of pensioners.

He said, “it has come to the notice of the board that some miscreants are parading themselves as staff of the board with the intention of duping retirees of their gratuity”.

He maintained that the board still go by the directives of Governor Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago that the exercise be conducted on first come and first to be served basis, adding that, ” on no account should any person approach them to render assistance to get their gratuity and take part of it”.

He warned staff or any person in the act to desist or face the full wrath of the law, maintaining that retirees who have been captured during the recent verification exercise would be paid their gratuity as when due.

According to Nasiru Namaska, the payment of gratuities still remain in batches, saying that it is directive they must be complied with.

He assured that the list of batch five have been compiled and that any moment from now it will be out for the flagg-off for the issuence of cheques.

He appealed to retirees in the state to exercise patience as the board is doing anything possible to ensure that they receive their gratuities.
