The full list of the 12 divisions approved by President Tinubu:
1. 1st Division – Kaduna (Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, and Jigawa States)
2. 2nd Division – Ibadan (Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, and Ondo States)
3. 3rd Division – Jos (Plateau, Bauchi, and Gombe States)
4. 5th Division – Makurdi (Benue, Nasarawa, and Kogi States)
5. 6th Division – Port Harcourt (Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River States)
6. 7th Division – Maiduguri (Borno and Yobe States)
7. 8th Division – Sokoto (Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara States)
8. 9th Division – Ilorin (Kwara and Niger States)
9. 10th Division – Jalingo (Taraba and Adamawa States)
10. 81st Division – Lagos (Lagos and Ogun States)
11. 82nd Division – Enugu (Enugu, Anambra, Abia, Ebonyi, and Imo States)
12. 83rd Division – Benin City (Edo, Delta, and Bayelsa States)
According to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the implementation of the new force structure will be carried out in two phases.
The first phase, which includes establishing the 5th, 9th, and 10th Divisions and reorganizing existing formations, is scheduled to be completed by September 2026.
The second phase, involving creating the 83rd Division and further reorganizing, is expected to finish by December 2026, the statement concluded.
