Bida, Katcha, Gbako Federal Constituency Disputes Over G-10 Endorsement
The Expanded Interface Committee of Bida, Katcha, Gbako federal constituency has condemned the so-called G-10 plan to endorse Saidu Musa Abdul SMA for a third term, describing it as illegal, unacceptable, and null and void.
Alhaji Abubakar Katcha, chairman of the committee, announced this to journalists in Bida after a meeting with five APC aspirants—Isah Kawu, Mohammed Yakubu Esheti, Alhaji Baba Abubakar Chengudugi, Abdulsalam M. Madaki, and Yahaya Yab.
Katcha stated that the Bida Agenda drives the G-10 initiative and does not reflect the views or resolutions of local stakeholders. He criticized the move as unfortunate, misguided, and unnecessary.
The chairman emphasized that only the yet-to-be-established consensus committee, appointed by the state government, has the authority to select a party candidate after engaging with aspirants to foster peace.
He added that a G-10 member had informed him that Governor Mohammed Umar Bago directed him to tell the committee that Saidu Musa Abdul SMA is the stakeholders’ candidate. However, upon Katcha’s request to confirm this with the governor, the caller relented.
Katcha appealed to Governor Bago and the APC leadership in Niger State to swiftly intervene and call the G-10 to order to prevent unrest in the Bida, Katcha, and Gbako Federal Constituencies and to ensure peace, unity, and stability in the area.
