The Nigerian Bar Association Minna Branch Condemns Attack on St. Mary’s School and Calls for Immediate Action
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Minna Branch has strongly condemned the recent attack on St. Mary’s Catholic School in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area, Niger State, where terrorists abducted numerous pupils, students, and teachers.
The NBA described the incident as a grave violation of educational rights and human life, highlighting the ongoing insecurity plaguing the region.
In a public statement, Chairman Isyaku Barau urged the perpetrators to release all abducted victims unconditionally, emphasizing that no cause can justify such violence against innocent children and educators.
The association called on Niger State, the Federal Government, and security agencies to mobilize all necessary resources to ensure the swift rescue of the victims, stressing the urgency of the situation.
The statement also referenced recent cases of banditry and terrorism, including the captivity of NBA members Ahmed Mohammed Bargu and Isyaku Mohammed Danjuma, who have been held for nearly two months.
The NBA reiterated its demand for their immediate release and expressed deep concern over the ongoing threats to peace and safety.
Chairman Barau appealed to Nigerians to unite against terrorism, urging vigilance, community cooperation, and prompt reporting of suspicious activities.
He also called on divine intervention, praying for the protection and swift recovery of all abducted individuals.
The NBA Minna Branch reaffirmed its commitment to justice, security, and the rule of law across Niger State and Nigeria.
