227 pupils, students, and staff were kidnapped from St. Mary’s Catholic Primary and Secondary Schools in Papiri, Niger State.
Following an incident involving suspected terrorists targeting St. Mary’s Catholic Primary and Secondary Schools in Papiri, Agwarra Local Government Area, Niger State, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for Niger State, Most Rev. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, confirmed that 227 individuals, including students and staff, have been abducted.
According to a press statement, the Media Aide to the CAN Chairman, Daniel Atori, stated that the Chairman, Bulus Dauwa, has just returned to the village after visiting the school and meeting with parents to reassure them of the collaborative efforts with the government and security agencies to recover and safely reintegrate the kidnapped individuals.
Our records show that 215 pupils and students, along with 12 teachers, were taken by the abductors.
It is important to note that some students managed to escape during the attack, and parents are now arriving at the school to retrieve their children. This has resulted in the school’s closure.
I urge everyone to remain calm and prayerful during this time. “Please be assured that we are actively cooperating with security personnel, community leaders, and government officials to ensure the swift and safe return of all abducted persons.”
