The PDP Crisis Persists As Wike’s Allies Target The Judge Who Approved The Convention.

By Our Correspondent.

Some Loyal To FCT Minister Nyesom Wike Have Petitioned The National Judicial Council (NJC) Over Alleged Misconduct By Justice A.L. Akintola Of The Oyo State High Court.

The petition, authored by Hon. Austine Nwachukwu, Hon. Amah Abraham Nnanna, and Turnah Alabh George—who previously sued the Umar Damagum-led National Working Committee (NWC) to block the convention—was dated November 5, 2025, and acknowledged by the Chief Justice of Nigeria’s office on November 6, 2025.

The petitioners accused Justice Akintola of “judicial recklessness, impunity, and blatant violation of legal procedures.” On Monday, they told journalists that Justice Akintola issued an ex parte order on November 4, 2025, permitting the PDP National Convention in Ibadan scheduled for November 15 and 16, 2025.

They claimed this order conflicted with a Federal High Court judgment in Abuja from October 31, 2025 (Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/2120/2025), which explicitly barred the convention on those dates.

The petitioners contended that Akintola’s action was an improper appeal over a court of equal jurisdiction—violating judicial order and threatening the rule of law.

“This troubling act threatens judicial integrity and could set a harmful precedent that undermines public confidence,” Nwachukwu declared.

The PDP leaders called on the NJC to act promptly, warning that neglect could encourage judicial misconduct. “The NJC must uphold discipline, impartiality, and judicial integrity by holding offenders accountable without delay,” they urged.

They also highlighted the NJC’s swift response to similar misconduct cases in Rivers, Imo, and other states, urging consistency.

“The Nigerian judiciary should be the last refuge of the common person, not a tool for political manipulation. The NJC’s immediate, transparent response will help restore trust in the judiciary and reinforce that no one is above the law,” Nwachukwu concluded.
