Emir of Borgu Turbans Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin-Daji as Dokajin Borgu
The Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Barr. (Dr.) Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin-Daji, was officially turbaned as the Dokajin Borgu by the Emir of Borgu, His Royal Highness Barr. (Dr.) Mohammed Sani Haliru Dantoro (Kitoro IV).
The colorful ceremony, part of the festivities marking the 10th anniversary of the Emir’s reign, took place today at Sabuke Square in New Bussa, Niger State.
The event also included the turbaning of two distinguished sons of Niger State: Engr. Iliyasu Abdullahi Wara, who was named the Falakin Borgu, and ACG (Rtd.) Ahmed Tijjani Mohammed, who became the Ubandawakin Borgu.
In his remarks following the turbaning ceremony, the newly appointed Dokajin Borgu and Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Barr. (Dr.) Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin-Daji, expressed his deep appreciation to the Emir of Borgu, Barr. (Dr.) Mohammed Sani Haliru Dantoro (Kitoro IV), for considering them worthy of these traditional titles.
He also commended the “Farmer Governor” of Niger State, Hon. Mohammed Umar Bago, for attending the occasion despite his busy schedule.
The Dokajin Borgu assured the Emir and the people of the Borgu Emirate of his unwavering support for peace, unity, and the overall development of the Emirate.
The grand occasion was attended by numerous dignitaries, including the “Farmer Governor” of Niger State, Hon. Mohammed Umar Bago; former Governor of Niger State, Senator Abubakar Sani Bello; Hon. Minister of State for Agriculture, Senator Sabi Abdullahi; and the APC North Central Zonal Chairman, Alh. Mu’azu Bawa Rijau.
