Niger State Government Applauds NSIEC for Successful Local Government Elections
The Niger State Independent Electoral Commission (NSIEC) conducted a formal presentation of Certificates of Return to the newly elected local government Chairmen and their deputies on Wednesday, marking the successful conclusion of the recent local government elections.

The elections have been widely praised for their peaceful and transparent execution, representing a significant milestone for the NSIEC in fulfilling its inaugural major responsibility since its formation. An impressive voter turnout highlighted the integrity of the electoral process, resulting in credible outcomes that reflect the will of the people across the state.
Hon. Mohammed Nma Kolo, Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Affairs and Strategy, expressed the state government’s appreciation during the event, which was represented by Prince Innocent Kure, the ICT Coordinator in Kolo’s office.

Kolo lauded the Commission, under the leadership of Chairman Engr. Jibril Imam Gawu, for their professionalism in organizing free and fair elections. “The state government is highly impressed with NSIEC’s conduct of the local government elections,” he stated. He further encouraged the Commission to continue refining its processes for future electoral activities.
Additionally, he congratulated the newly elected local government officials, urging them to embody the leadership style of Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago.
He stressed the importance of inclusive governance and the critical role that leaders play in ensuring that the benefits of democracy are felt at the grassroots level.

“Your election is a call to service. Follow the example set by our Farmer Governor, Umaru Bago, by ensuring that everyone, especially those at the grassroots, feels the impact of good governance,” Kolo emphasized.
The event attracted distinguished attendees, including the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, members of the State Assembly, political stakeholders, traditional rulers, and representatives from security agencies. They gathered to celebrate the achievements of the newly elected officials, who were met with applause and jubilation from supporters and party members as they received their Certificates of Return.
