Nigeria @ 65 : Niger State CAN Chairman Calls for Economic Stability and Security.

In a poignant message delivered on the occasion of Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day, Most Rev. Dr. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Niger State, urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take decisive action to stabilize the nation’s economy and address the pressing issue of insecurity.
Bishop Yohanna, who also serves as the Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese, emphasized the need for government intervention to regulate food prices amidst ongoing economic challenges.
“As a Body, CAN believes the challenges, even though enormous, are surmountable, and by the grace of God, there will be light at the end of the tunnel,” he stated.
He called on the President to make significant efforts to enhance the economy, advocating for increased trade, decreased food prices, reduced inflation, a stronger national currency, and the growth of external reserves.
“Mr. President, as you plan to boost the economy of the country, we look forward to the increase in trade and improvements that benefit all Nigerians,” Yohanna remarked.
In his address, the bishop also urged citizens to engage in fervent prayers for peace, unity, and prosperity within Niger State, recognizing the collective responsibility of Nigerians in overcoming their challenges.
He congratulated Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, highlighted as the “Farmer Governor”, and encouraged him to remain focused on securing lives and livelihoods while achieving the New Niger Agenda for the benefit of all.
Reflecting on the country’s journey, Bishop Yohanna urged Christians to look beyond current difficulties and to express gratitude for God’s continued mercy and favor in keeping Nigeria united despite adversities.
As the nation marks this significant milestone, the call for unity and proactive measures in the face of economic and security challenges resonates strongly among the populace, reflecting a shared hope for a brighter future.
