NECO Releases 2025 SSCE Results with 60.2 percent Success rate, Amid Cheating and Supervision Issues.

By Yahaya Zakka Minna

The National Examination Council (NECO) has released the results for the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), which took place on September 17, 2025, at the NECO headquarters in Minna.

Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, the Registrar/Chief Executive, announced the results during a press briefing.

This year, a total of 1,367,210 candidates registered for the examination, with 1,358,339 actually sitting for the tests. Among these candidates, 818,492 achieved five credits or more, including Mathematics and English, while 1,144,496 candidates secured five credits and above, regardless of whether or not they included Mathematics and English.

Additionally, there were 1,622 candidates with special needs who participated in the examination.

However, the council reported incidents of mass cheating in 38 schools across 13 states. These schools will be called in for discussions, and appropriate sanctions are expected to follow.

Furthermore, NECO highlighted issues with supervision, recommending that nine supervisors be blacklisted due to inadequate oversight, aiding and abetting cheating, tardiness, unruly behavior, and insubordination. The supervisors involved are from Rivers State, Niger, the Federal Capital Territory, Kano, and Osun.

Moreover, the examination was disrupted in Lamorde Local Government, Adamawa State, where eight schools were affected by a communal clash, leading to the postponement of the NECO examinations from July 7 to July 25, 2025. As a result, the results from these affected schools are incomplete and cannot be released at this time.

NECO remains committed to maintaining the integrity of its examinations as it continues to address these challenges.
