Tragic Incident in Nyakala Village: Police Officer Mistakenly Lynched by Mob.

Nyakala Village, located in the Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, was the scene of a tragic incident involving the mistaken lynching of a police officer, Inspector Lasare Jeremiah.
On Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Alfred Alabo, issued a statement concerning the events that unfolded on Thursday, September 10, 2025.
According to the PPRO, personnel from the Investigation Department (SCID) were conducting an inquiry into a complaint against Adu Abdullahi, a resident of Kishika Village. During their investigation, detectives observed the suspect riding a motorcycle in Binchi Village and decided to pursue him to Nyakala Village, where they ultimately intercepted him.
As the officers approached, the suspect raised a false alarm, alleging that they were motorcycle thieves. This miscommunication triggered a mob response, leading to an attack on one of the police officers.
Upon realizing their error, the mob redirected their aggression toward the suspect. Both the officer and the suspect were subsequently taken to the Cottage Hospital in Kisalloi, Bassa. Unfortunately, the officer succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment, while the suspect was later transferred to Jos University Teaching Hospital, where he also passed away.
The State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Jos is currently investigating the incident. Commissioner of Police for the Plateau State Command, CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, expressed his deep sorrow over the unfortunate event and emphasized the dangers of mob justice, which undermines the rule of law.
He assured that those responsible for this tragic lynching will face prosecution in accordance with the law once they are identified and apprehended, as stated by the PPRO.
