NSP Foundation Donates Over 30 Million Naira in Food Aid to IDP Camps in Shiroro, Muyan LGA

By Yahaya Zakka Minna

In a commendable effort to alleviate hunger among internally displaced persons (IDPs), Dr. Sam Esumen, representing the North South Power (NSP) Foundation, announced a significant donation of food items valued at over 30 million Naira to thirteen IDP camps.

During a recent visit to the camps, it became evident that many residents continue to suffer from food insecurity.

Dr. Esumen expressed the foundation’s commitment to the welfare of these vulnerable IDP Camps, stating that they have already provided aid to 13 locations within the Muyan and Shiroro local government areas, and plan to extend their outreach even further.

The donation includes essential food items such as rice, beans, maize, Maggi seasoning, cooking oil, salt, and other necessities, Dr. Esumen emphasized that this initiative is part of the NSP Foundation’s ongoing commitment to ensure the health and well-being of IDPs, pledging to make regular contributions in the future.

“Maintaining a strong relationship with our host communities is vital, and we are dedicated to aligning our efforts with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those focused on food security and health,” he remarked.

This generous act of compassion has provided much-needed relief to the IDP camps, bringing hope and sustenance to those affected.

During a recent food donation event at one of the IDP camps located at Mararaban Dandaudu Primary School, the Chairman of the Muyan Local Government Council, Hon. Aminu Najume Kuchi, commended the NSP Foundation for their generous donation of food items, which has significantly assisted the IDPs.

He expressed his prayers for the foundation, wishing them continued strength and success in their humanitarian efforts.

He stated that for the past three years, NSP Foundation has been very supportive of IDPs across the Muyan local government area and urged them to continue their charitable work.

Hon. Najume acknowledged the challenges posed by insecurity over the past six years, noting that recent government initiatives have led to an increase in residents returning to their villages. “For years, our community was plagued by insecurity, but due to improvements in safety, we are now witnessing a return to normalcy,” he stated.

He further reflected on the long-standing impact of insecurity, which hindered residents from pursuing agricultural and business activities. “We understand the struggles they have faced, but with the governor’s support, people are beginning to rebuild their lives,” he added.

The food donation benefitted thirteen IDP camps in the Shiroro and Muyan local government area of Niger State, namely:

1. Central Primary School, Erena
2. Town Hall, Erena
3. Basic Health Centre, Erena
4. Area Development Centre, Erena
5. Central Primary School, Gwada
6. Model Primary School, Gwada
7. Central Primary School, Kuta
