CFP/FMN Commandant General Visits Flood Victims in Mokwa,Donates Relief Materials.

By Shuaibu Othman Sambo.

Col. Igwe I. Amara (Rtd), the Commandant General of Citizens for Peace and First Aid Mission in Nigeria (CFP/FMN), recently visited Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State to express sympathy for the victims of a recent flood disaster that claimed over 161 lives.

The tragic flooding incident occurred on May 29, 2025, when heavy rains inundated several communities in Mokwa. State authorities report that many residents, including children, remain missing, and hundreds of households have been displaced as a result of the disaster.

During his visit, Col. Amara distributed relief items such as mats, blankets, clothing, and other essentials to affected families. He personally handed over these supplies, demonstrating compassion and solidarity with the victims.

Accompanied by senior officers from the organization, the Commandant General inspected various flood-ravaged areas, gaining firsthand insight into the extensive damage to lives, property, and agricultural lands.

In addition to visiting affected communities, the delegation also paid courtesy calls to the Emir of Mokwa and the Chairman of Mokwa Local Government Council. Both leaders warmly welcomed the team and expressed their gratitude for the support extended by CFP/FMN.

During his visit, Col. Amara reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to providing humanitarian assistance during crises. “Our mission is not just about peace and first aid in emergencies; it is also about standing by communities in their darkest hours,” he stated.

“The Mokwa tragedy impacts the entire nation, and CFP/FMN will continue to respond wherever lives and livelihoods are at risk.”

He also emphasized the need for closer collaboration among humanitarian groups, government agencies, and traditional authorities to ensure quicker relief distribution and long-term recovery for the victims.

Survivors who received assistance expressed their gratitude to CFP/FMN for the timely intervention, describing it as a source of hope amid the difficulties caused by the disaster.

Col. Amara assured that his organization would continue to work with local leaders to identify additional needs and provide further aid in the weeks ahead.

The visit concluded with prayers for the victims and words of encouragement to the affected communities, highlighting CFP/FMN’s role as a key partner in peacebuilding, disaster relief, and humanitarian support across Nigeria
