African Association of Accountant General Elects Ogunjimi as Deputy Chairperson

Mr. Shamseldeen Babatunde Ogunjimi, the Federation’s Accountant General, has been elected as the Deputy Chairperson of the Executive Committee of the African Association of Accountants General (AAAG).

The Director, Press and Public Relations said the election occurred during the Association’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on July 28, 2025, in Accra, Ghana. This significant event was attended by Accountants General from AAAG member states.
The AAAG is a pan-African organization consisting of the Offices of the Accountants General from various countries across the continent. Currently representing 22 member countries, the Association promotes leadership and excellence in Public Financial Management (PFM) through robust accounting practices and transparent reporting systems.
Established in July 2023 under the auspices of the African Union Commission, the AAAG aims to bring together continental perspectives on PFM reforms in Africa. Its goals include enhancing accountability, improving transparency, and strengthening the effective management of public finances across the continent.
Nigeria’s election of Mr. Ogunjimi to this esteemed position reflects his African peers’ confidence in his leadership and the nation’s commitment to fiscal transparency.
As Deputy Chairperson, Mr. Ogunjimi will be crucial in advancing the AAAG’s mission. He will support initiatives to promote innovative PFM systems, strengthen public sector accounting, and encourage collaboration among member nations.
