Blueprint Honors Niger State Governor for Excellence in Agriculture and Infrastructure Development
Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago, has been awarded the prestigious “Best Governor on Agriculture and Infrastructure Award” by Blueprint Newspaper for his transformative contributions to the state’s agricultural sector and infrastructure development.
The award ceremony took place during the 2025 Blueprint Public Lecture, Impact Series, and Awards Ceremony at the Ladi Kwali Hall of the Abuja Continental Hotel. Governor Bago was represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hajia Binta Mamman, who accepted the award on his behalf.
Blueprint Newspaper commended Governor Bago for his exceptional commitment to expanding food production, empowering farmers, and establishing Niger State as a key player in Nigeria’s food security. The newspaper also highlighted the Governor’s significant investments in both rural and urban infrastructure, aimed at fostering economic growth and improving connectivity across the state.
The event was chaired by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, and attended by prominent figures including Deputy Senate President Senator Barau Jibrin, along with key ministers from various sectors such as Information and National Orientation, Solid Minerals, Agriculture and Food Security, Livestock Development, and Water Resources.
In her acceptance speech, Hajia Binta Mamman expressed gratitude to Blueprint Newspaper for recognizing the administration’s tireless efforts to promote development in Niger State.
She emphasized that this recognition serves as encouragement for the government to continue its reform agenda under the framework of Renewed Hope.

“This award symbolizes Governor Bago’s vision to elevate Niger State through substantial investments in agriculture and infrastructure development, which will enhance the livelihoods of our citizens and contribute significantly to Nigeria’s economic progress,” she stated.
Under Governor Bago’s leadership, the administration has initiated important programs focusing on large-scale mechanized farming, advancements in irrigation, enhancement of value chains, and rehabilitation of rural roads.
These initiatives aim to improve market access for farmers, reduce post-harvest losses, and invigorate local economies throughout Niger State.
The Blueprint Award underscores Governor Bago’s growing reputation as a leader committed to effective, people-focused governance that fosters sustainable development and builds an inclusive economy benefiting all residents of Niger State.
