Niger Government Awards ₦7 Billion Road Project to Connect Mokwa and Rabba Communities

The Niger State government has awarded a ₦7 billion contract for the construction of a 12-kilometer road connecting the Mokwa and Rabba communities.
The Governor, often referred to as the “Farmer Governor,” announced this decision during an on-site assessment and sympathy visit to Mokwa, which had recently suffered devastating floods that resulted in numerous deaths and the destruction of properties and livelihoods worth millions of naira.
The road construction, which is set to begin immediately, will include the building of four bridges connecting the two communities.
The Governor also directed relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to conduct a thorough survey of waterways and the topography of Niger State with the aim of relocating residents from coastal areas to prevent a recurrence of such disasters.
He urged the community to remain united and to set aside differences, especially during challenging times, while assuring them of the government’s ongoing commitment to their well-being.
Additionally, a symbolic distribution of relief items was made to selected households affected by the floods. The Governor also visited Rabba to inspect a bridge that had been damaged by the flood, expressing his sympathy to the community.
