Suspected Kidnapper Arrested at Abuja Hajj Camp During Routine Screening.

From Our Correspondent in Abuja

Security operatives have apprehended a suspected kidnapper, Yahaya Zango, at the Abuja Hajj camp while he was undergoing routine screening alongside intending Muslim pilgrims preparing to be airlifted to Saudi Arabia for this year’s Hajj.

According to a report by Our Source, said a security source confirmed the arrest, stating that Zango, a resident of Paikon-Kore in the Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), had been declared wanted by authorities over his alleged involvement in a series of kidnappings.

The source indicated that the apprehension took place during the afternoon screening at the Hajj camp when operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS) identified and detained him.

Yahaya Zango had reportedly presented his international passport and joined the queue with other intending pilgrims before his arrest.

A senior official from the FCT Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, who requested anonymity, corroborated the account, noting that Zango had been on the run and was captured as the screening process began. “He tried to blend in with the pilgrims to escape detection, but the operatives were already on alert,” the official stated.

As of the time of this report, the DSS had not issued an official statement regarding the arrest.
