Education Outreach: NGIRS, in collaboration with AANY, distributes Essential learning materials to Niger State School children.

Back-to-School Initiative Targets Underprivileged Pupils—Monitoring Team to Ensure Long-Term Impact

In a significant effort to bridge the educational gap and empower the next generation, the Niger State Internal Revenue Service (NGSIRS), in partnership with the Aspire Alliance for Niger State Youths (AANY), launched a landmark educational outreach on Monday, May 5, 2025. This initiative distributed critical school supplies to thousands of public primary school pupils across the state.

The event, held at Dr. Umaru Farouk Bahago Primary School in Minna, marked the beginning of a statewide campaign aimed at encouraging underprivileged children to embrace education while providing them with the tools necessary for success.

At the event, Hajiya Aisha O. Muhammad, the Commissioner for Stamp Duty at NGSIRS, stated, “We believe in the power of education to break the cycle of poverty and unlock potential.”

She emphasized that education is the most powerful weapon for transforming society. “When we equip our children with knowledge and resources, we are not just building students—we are raising future leaders, innovators, and nation-builders,” she added.

The materials distributed included:
✔️ School bags
✔️ Exercise books
✔️ Writing materials
✔️ Packs of chalk
✔️ Sporting equipment

Dr. Aliyu Haruna Sani, founder of AANY, praised the collaboration with NGSIRS and the Niger State government, encouraging the beneficiaries to make the most of the opportunity.

“These materials are more than just gifts—they are tools for greatness. Use them wisely,” he urged the pupils.

To ensure transparency and measure the initiative’s impact, Dr. Aliyu announced the establishment of a special Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) team. This team will gather feedback from teachers, parents, and students to assess improvements in school attendance and academic performance, which will help shape future interventions.

The first phase of the outreach will expand to other public primary schools in Minna, Bida, Suleja, and Kontagora, with plans for statewide coverage.

With millions of Nigerian children out of school, initiatives like this provide a crucial lifeline. They demonstrate that strategic partnerships between government agencies and NGOs can create real change. As these pupils return to class with new supplies, Niger State is taking a significant step toward securing a brighter future.
