Christians Urged to Forsake Anything that Derails Their Service to God – Bishop Jeremiah

Christians in the country have been encouraged not to be disobedient servants of God and to forsake anything that may lead them away from serving Him.
The Bishop of Kutigi Anglican Diocese in the Lavun local government area of Niger State, Rt. Rev. Jeremiah Ndana Kolo, made this statement while delivering a sermon to commemorate the New Year celebration at Kutigi.
He admonished Christians to surrender and let go of anything that has caused them to stray from their service to God, emphasizing that now is the time to take worshiping God seriously through the Lord Jesus Christ.
Bishop Jeremiah focused his sermon on the passages from Romans 13:11 and John 15:11, urging Christians to recognize the present time as the hour to awaken from their slumber because salvation is nearer than ever.
He pointed out that Christians are meant to be fishers of men, as illustrated in Luke 5:11, where Simon left his boats on the shore and followed Jesus.
Bishop Jeremiah stated that God has a purpose for each of our lives and that the reason some of us are still living is to fulfill that purpose. He stressed that while God does not owe us anything, we should find joy in serving Him.
He said the best way to overcome worries and bitterness is to follow Jesus Christ by surrendering everything you have. He warned against being indecisive, stating that many people are “neither here nor there,” with one foot in and one foot out, and yet struggle to receive the joy of the Lord.
“If you find yourself still hanging on to the world while trying to follow Jesus, let this year, 2025, be your year of total submission to Him,” Bishop Ndana urged.
