Nigeria Union of Journalists, Niger Council, Extends Condolences to Ruth Gana Following Her Father’s Passing

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Niger State Council, has extended heartfelt condolences to Ruth Gana, the State Treasurer of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) and a member of Newsline Newspapers, on the passing of her father, Baba John Ndanusa Gana.
In a statement issued on behalf of the Union, the State Secretary of NUJ, Comrade Usman Chiji, emphasized that the death of Baba John Ndanusa Gana is a profound loss not only to his family but also to the entire Essan community.
He described the late Baba John as a loving father, a devout Christian, and a community leader who dedicated his life to promoting peace, unity, progress, and understanding among individuals, regardless of their tribal or religious backgrounds.
As the traditional title holder of Kusodu of Essan, Baba John Gana played a vital role in the development of the Essan community. He fostered inter-religious tolerance, moral upbringing, and access to quality education for all children.
Comrade Usman noted that the exemplary life of the deceased is reflected in the character, discipline, and remarkable educational achievements of his children, who continue to contribute to the socioeconomic and political advancement of the Essan community, Niger State, and Nigeria as a whole.
He reminded Baba John Ndanusa Gana’s children that while their father’s passing is undoubtedly painful, they can find solace in knowing that he lived a life devoted to serving God and humanity. He encouraged them to honor their father’s memory by upholding his values of honesty, sincerity, love for one another, compassion for the less privileged, and steadfastness in the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ.
The statement also urged the children to thank God for blessing their father with the remarkable age of 101 years, which is increasingly rare in today’s world.
On behalf of the Council Chairman, Comrade Abu Nmodu, and all journalists in Niger State, the Union prayed for the soul of Baba John Ndanusa Gana to rest in peace in the bosom of the Lord Jesus Christ and offered comfort to the family, the people of Gbako Local Government Area, and the Anglican Church as a whole.
