30 firms get SON MANCAP certificates in Niger
About 30 companies have received
The Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme (MANCAP) certificates in Niger State.
This is as SON certified 61 products that have gone through the organization’s assessment.
The State Coordinator, Niger state office1, Minna, Hajiya Hauwa Nuhu said that the state office has been awarding companies and organizations with MANCAP certificates for the past eight years.
She explained that the 30 firms went through the process of certification to ensure that their products were up to standard both for national and international distribution.
The state coordinator noted that small and medium enterprises are the building blocks of the economy, adding that the government is taking measures to ensure that they carry out their activities without any challenges or difficulties.
She said, “MANCAP is just the beginning. We will continue monitoring these organizations and their products for the next three years to ensure that they conform to the standard of the end product.”
Speaking also, The SON North Central Regional Director, Mrs Marilyn Sambo Waziri, reiterated the importance of the MANCAP certificate, saying that it enables the companies to distribute their products to other countries.
She said that SON is working to ensure that made-in-Nigeria products remain standard, competitive, and of the highest standards, and urged companies that haven’t undergone the MANCAP process to do so as it would help them build trust among their customers.
Representative of one of the beneficiaries, who spoke to our reporter, Dizauregi Services Limited, Mercy Mosumbi, disclosed that it was a tough journey, but she is grateful that they were able to scale through as the company received three certificates for their products.
“We started little. The Founder started with N20,000 and we are working our way to the top. We make tea, moin-moin powder, rosemary leaves, and other food products. We took the initiative to register our products through MANCAP so that we could go places. This certificate is our stepping stone to a larger scale,” she said.
The certified products include the civil/building, chemical technology, and food and codex departments, among others.
