Collaborative effort will bring back lost glory of NCRI Baddegi-Dr Ndagi.

New Executive Director of National cereal research institute Baddegi,Niger state,Dr Mohamed Ndagi Ishaq,said the institute is to be reposition for effective service delivery to ensure food sufficiency in the country.
Dr,Ishaq who has since assumed office, stated this in a chat with news men in Bida , said the backwardness in the institute can be attributed to lack of funds which is paramount for conducting meaningful research.
According to the Director,”as a long serving senior staff of the institute, I am aware of some constraints that have become a cog in the wheel of over all development of the institute and will not hesitate to put up machinaries for the smooth operation of my tenure.”
Dr Ishaq further explained that part of his priorities is to organize a retreat and to also promote training and retraining of the staff to enable them to be abreast with the rudiments
and policies establishing the institute.
” My concern is to bring back the lost glory of Badegi research institute which can be realised through the collaborative efforts of all and sundry to overcome the bottle necks that have constituted a challenge to the progress of the institute”.
The Director said it can not be business as usual, adding that it is the sole responsibility of the Executive Director to welcome all crtisims that will streamline the derailment of the institute for the benefits of all.
Dr Ndagi was appointed as the 12th substantive Director of the institute 1st August, have served the institute for over 30 years and will serve for the next period of five years is a season scientist also the immediate past president of Agricultural society of Nigeria,takes over from Dr Emmanuel Abo who served on an acting capacity for the past one year.
In a separate interview,the Chairman Joint Union of NCRI Baddegi,Comrade Dogo Saleh,said the appointment of Dr Ishaq was received with joy ,a round peg in a round hole, will no doubt make a difference, optimistic that as a season administrator will ensure welfare of staff and human capital developement.
