Arrangements have been concluded by the stakeholders and associations including Almagamated CSOs, industrial unions, Relligious bodies and inter tribal associations to explore legal option for AEDC failure to proviide it customer with 21 hours electricity supply in the state.

In a Press statement made available to Newsmen in Minna, said the meeting which was facilitated by the Organize Labour and held at Comrade Labaran Garba, Teachers House Minna delibrated on how to tackle the persistent electricity failure in the state.

According to the statement it was unanimously agreed that since all avenue have been explored to resolve the persistent power failure amicably and no solution, the union is left with no option than to approach Court of law for Justice.

The statement further disclosed that after delibrations the stakeholders Unimously agreed that Abuja Electricity Distribution Company AEDC had failed to provide adequate electricity to Nigerlites and that it has taken advantage of estimated billing system to continue to extort money from Nigerlites, hence need for metering each household in the state.

The statement also said Abuja Electricity Development Company has illegally transfered it’s pre privatisation financial obligation and burden to the customers contrary to provision of the Law, which shows perpetual dishonesty in transaction with Nigerlites.

They observed that the power deficit has also negates the socio economic activities and has compounded the insecurity challenges witnessed among the youths in state.

According to the statement, the stakeholders are confident that the legal action shall compel DISCO to meter customers and to supply twenty one hours electricity to its customers and to refund all maintenance and procurement expenditures incurred by communities, individuals and corporate bodies, the statement added.

No Hiding Place for Adversaries in Kontagora, Niger State -Gen. Abubakar The Commander, Corps of Artillery, Major General Zakari Abubakar, has declared that there is no longer a safe haven for criminal elements operating in Kontagora and its environs. General Abubakar made this known during a field demonstration involving the test-firing of artillery guns held at the Nigerian Army Military Training Center (NAMTA) in Kontagora. The test-firing is aimed at sending a strong message to criminal groups that the area is fully secured and under military watch. He urged troops to remain vigilant, professional, and proactive in their duties, emphasizing the need to deny miscreants any opportunity to disrupt peace and security in the region. The Commander also called on residents to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could aid ongoing operations to rid the area of insecurity. According to him, sustainable development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace. “Peace is the foundation of every meaningful development. We all have a responsibility to promote and sustain it,” he stated. General Abubakar further appealed to religious leaders to continue preaching messages of peace to their congregations, stressing that peace is a universal language that must be upheld by all. He also extended a call to all aggrieved individuals or groups to lay down their arms, embrace peace, and reintegrate into society as responsible citizens committed to the progress and development of Kontagora.
