Niger State liquor Board destroys seized Beer from unauthorized Vendors in Suleja.
Chief Magistrate court Suleja in Niger state has granted Niger State liquor lincese board Order to destroy assorted alcoholic drinks worth thousands of naira confiscated during raid of unlicensed beer joints in Suleja.
While destroying the Exhibits the Secretary of the Board, Mallam Ibrahim Muhammad Bonu said that the Board had gained court order to destroy saventy seven (77) cartons of beer,fourty eight (48) empty cartons of beer and two hundred (200) pieces of rubber whisky ( Orijeje) while Maryam Zubairu and six others where convicted.
In the court order granted by the Chief Magistrate court Suleja and made available to Journalists before the commencement of the destruction of the exhibits,reads .
‘”The Chief Magistrate H/W Ruth Ibrahim Mrs on Wednesday 25/10/2023 in Suit number 10/26/2023,27;28 and 29 brought before her by the Niger State liquor lincese board, upon the application moved by the prosecutor that exhibits recovered from the convicts be destroyed in accordance with the section 66 of liquor law of Niger State”.the Honorable court hereby grants the Order as prayed.
The Secretary of the Board,Mallam Ibrahim Bonu briefing Journalists after the exercise warned beer Vendors in the state to always abide by the rules of engagement as enshrined in the Niger state liquor bye law or shall be made to face full wrath of the law.
He then advised vendors to approach the Board for renewal of their lincese and to always adhere to the 8km radius from the city to avoid destruction of their properties and prosecution.
Also at Kwakwashe the venue where the exhibits were destroyed, the Chairman of Suleja local government Area, Alhaji Isyaku Bawa,commends the step taking by the Liquor board in reducing the menace.
Alhaji Isyaku Bawa further promised to assist in eradicating the sales of alcohol in the entire local government area,he added.
