COMMISSIONER OF BASIC, SECONDARY EDUCATION ASSUMES OFFICE, CALLED FOR COLLABORATION.

The new Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Hadiza Asabe Mohammed has assured of her commitment to turn round the fortunes of the Education sector within a reasonable period of time.
The Commissioner stated this when she assumed office today at the Ministry of Education headquarters,state secretariat, Minna.
Dr Hadiza decried the level of which the Education sector in state and therefore called for collaboration with experts in order to take the sector to a greater height.
She said the ministry under her watch will not condone truancy among the staff of the Ministry, hence the need for attitudinal change amongst them.
The Commissioner harped on the need for the training and retraining of staff, Teachers and Education administrators in order to have an all encompassing, experienced and good hands manning the Education sector in the State.
She also expressed concern over the poor welfare and take home pay of the teachers in the State which was the reason why so many teachers are leaving the profession, as such she will work for improved welfare of the teachers by making sure that they enjoy increased salary to a reasonable amount.
Dr. Hadiza also decried the lack of professionalism among most of the teachers in the State, hence the need to sanitize the system in order to have only qualified and experienced teachers in our Schools saying that it will go a long way in the improving the quality of Education of the children.
She promised to operate an open door policy, thus all Staff should feel free to channel their problems through their Directors.
Earlier, In his welcome address to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Wasa Jonathan k extolled the expertise and passion seen in the commissioner and assured her of smooth working relationship.
He then urged Staff of the Ministry to accord the new commissioner their maximum support and also warned them against carefree attitude to work.
