Gov.Umar Bago of Niger State Inaugurates Commissioners, Announces Plans To Introduce Gas Operated Vehicles
Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State on Monday Inaugurated Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries and Special Advisers during which he announced plans by the administration to introduce vehicles propelled by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) into the state public Transport Sector.
Those Inaugurated are thirty Commissioners while the others are Special Advisers and permanent Secretaries.
At the event which took place at Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi in the state capital Umar Bago did not announce the number of vehicles to be introduced but said they will be in two categories- buses and cars for inter and intra city transport at reduced rates.
He however appealed to the people to be patient with the government over the hardship presently being faced adding that efforts are on by his administration to provide more palliatives to mitigate their sufferings.
” The welfare of people will continue to be accorded top most prominence by this government, deliberate steps will be taken to improve and enhance the living standard of the people” he declared
Bago asked the Commissioners and Special Advisers not to alienate themselves from the people insisting that they should always visit their localities and touch the lives of the people in more positive ways.
The Governor then challenged the appointees to ” hit the ground running” warned them against corrupt tendencies saying anyone caught illegally using government funds or taking undue advantage of their positions will de severely dealt with.
Speaking on behalf of the appointees the Commissioner of Lands and Survey Mr Maurice Bello Magaji said they will serve with dignity respect and humility adding that ” we will not disappoint you”
Bello Magaji also gave assurance that they will remain loyal to the governor and assist to drive the policies and programmes of the administration.
The oath of office and allegiance were administered on the appointees by the State Chief Judge, Justice Halima Ibrahim Abdulmalik.
