Let Kebbi State judge our stewardship in the last 8 years _–says First lady Dr. Zainab Bagudu .

Barley few days to the elections, the Wife of the Kebbi State Governor Dr. Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu has said that her legacy will make people of Kebbi state to judge for her 8 years performance of their administration.

The wife of the Governor stated this yesterday during an interactive season with newsmen in her office, in Government House Birnin Kebbi, adding that alot have been done to the people of the state most especially on empowering women, youth, restructuring the health institutions as well as girls child education.

 

Dr. Zainab who was also giving her scorecard of their 8 years in the office said that with the support of her husband Governor Bagudu she was able to reorganize the health sector and empowering the less privileges, orphanage and widows.

“am not the one that suppose to blow my trumpet, let people of Kebbi state judge my performance and if another government came let them also continue from where we stopped” she said.

She also explained further that after their administration she will continue to sustain the fight against the menace  of cancer even after leaving office .

Dr Bagudu, who is also the Chairperson of the Medicaid Cancer Foundation emphasis that her successful stewardship from 2015 to date was successfully by bringing succour to the people and making them more relevant in the society.

According to her, ”cancer epidemic is on increase, and hence needs for government to take proactive measure to curtain the menace.adding that there is also an imbalance in  the required interventions and for adequate funding should be seen as an emergency.

”I will sustain my ongoing grassroots mobilisation to create the needed awareness in the above direction.”

Dr Zainab Bagudu further said  immediate action was desired by the government and  all the stakeholders to stem the tide of the disease, saying, ” quick intervention can saves lives”

She promised to work with government, CSOs and all the critical stakeholders to increase funding to the cancer fight, as well as shores up preventive measures.

”It is a very big problem in Nigeria as the country is not doing enough considering the population of the country.

”Strong partnerships is very important in this direction just as grassroots mobilisation is also very crucial.

According to her”Kebbi state have  done  a lot,We have a cancer control plan and the indigent cancer fund.

”There is also the health insurance scheme especially at the PHC level and we must do more to provide more actions,” Dr Bagudu added.

She also expressed gratitude to her husband and all the stakeholders for the passage of the child and women rights laws in the state.

They includes the VAPP law, Child Rights Act as well as the GBV Act, saying that the action of the state government led by her husband, Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu is  highly commendable.

Dr Bagudu also stressed the need for the people especially the victims and parents of victims of rape to always speak out and report such cases.

”People should take the right action and get the right evidence. Sensitisation should also be sustained,” she urged.
