Christian Leader Urges Nigerians to Pray for Purposeful Leadership During Sallah
As Muslims across the globe observe this year’s Sallah, Most Rev. Dr. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Niger State and Bishop of Kontagora Diocese, has called on Nigerians to pray for intentional and visionary leadership as the nation gears up for the 2027 general elections.
In a message of congratulations to the state governor and Muslim faithful, Yohanna expressed optimism that the current challenges facing the state will soon be addressed.
Released to journalists on Wednesday, his Sallah message emphasized the importance of reflection and seeking divine mercy in preparation for the upcoming elections.
“I want to encourage everyone to maintain hope in God and not succumb to discouragement over issues affecting the state,” he stated. “I also urge all stakeholders, including the government, to demonstrate compassion by supporting the vulnerable—those in orphanages, old people’s homes, IDP camps, hospitals, and correctional facilities.”
He further called for unity and love beyond tribal and religious boundaries, urging Nigerians to be ambassadors of peaceful coexistence and solidarity.
Highlighting the season’s core values of love, peace, and sacrifice, Bishop Yohanna called for greater tolerance, collaboration, and mutual understanding to tackle current difficulties.
He also extended his congratulations to Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago, the Council of Traditional Rulers, Etsu Nupe, other royal leaders, and the entire Muslim community.
