Court Issues Interim Injunction Against Niger State Governor over Farmland Dispute.

MINNA, Niger State – Justice Mohammed Mohammed of the Minna High Court has issued an interim order restraining Niger State Governor Mohammed Umar Bago and five other defendants from accessing the farmland of Bello Wakili and nine family members.
This decision, made in case number NSHC/MN/215/2025, will remain in effect pending the resolution of the legal dispute.
The suit was filed by Barrister Solomon Ogbeche, representing the plaintiffs, who are seeking protection of their farmland situated near Tagwai Dam in the Bosso Local Government Area of Niger State.
The defendants in the case include the Niger State government, the Niger State Ministry of Lands, the Commissioner for Lands in Niger State, the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Niger State, and Niger Foods Limited.
In his ruling, Justice Mohammed ordered the defendants to refrain from any work on the disputed land until the final determination of the case.
Despite this court order, allegations have emerged that the defendants have ignored the ruling, prompting Barrister Ogbeche to file a contempt motion against them, requesting that they be held in correctional custody.
The case has been adjourned to Oct., 6, 2025, for further hearing on the motion. As the legal battle continues, the plaintiffs remain hopeful for a favorable resolution to their ongoing plight.
