Kwankwaso Vows to Unseat Tinubu in 2027, Announcing Formation of New Political Coalition.

From Our Correspondent

Former Kano State Governor and leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has signaled a robust challenge to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a recent press statement, Kwankwaso emphasized that a powerful political coalition is in the works, intended to challenge the APC’s dominance.

Kwankwaso criticized the APC for its governance, asserting that it has failed the Nigerian populace. He expressed a firm commitment to remain outside the party he once helped establish, stating, “The APC has inflicted immense hardship on Nigerians.

I would rather quit politics entirely than return to a party that has lost both moral ground and historical relevance.” This response came after reports surfaced of President Tinubu’s efforts to persuade him to rejoin the APC.

Highlights of Kwankwaso’s statement include claims that Tinubu contacted him several times, both directly and via intermediaries, offering assurances of flexible negotiations.

However, the former senator dismissed these overtures, pointing to the APC’s track record under both Tinubu and former President Muhammadu Buhari as evidence of failed governance.

As part of his strategy for the upcoming elections, Kwankwaso is collaborating with “like-minded patriots” to form a “broad-based political movement” aimed at dismantling the APC’s grip on power.

He envisions this coalition as a transformative effort that transcends ethnic, religious, and regional divides, with a focus on uniting Nigerians—especially the youth—around a collective vision of justice, equity, and progress.

“This movement will not just be about winning elections. It will be about uprooting the politics of deception and replacing it with one of hope, vision, and action,” Kwankwaso stated emphatically.

In a particularly striking declaration, Kwankwaso asserted that “no amount of rigging” or political maneuvering could safeguard the Tinubu administration in 2027.

“Nigerians are watching. They are suffering. And they will speak decisively at the ballot box,” he concluded.
