Kano Governor Abba Yusuf Plans to Defect to APC Amid Deputy Governor’s Impeachment Efforts

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State is expected to switch allegiance from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the first week of January, according to Our Source.
Currently, Governor Yusuf commands the support of 25 out of the 27 NNPP members in the Kano State House of Assembly, following the deaths of two legislators.
The defection is reportedly proceeding without the endorsement of former Kano State Governor and NNPP leader Rabiu Kwankwaso, who has publicly rejected the move.
In a related development, Governor Yusuf is reportedly undertaking steps to impeach his deputy, Aminu Abdulsalam. This action appears to be aimed at paving the way for Murtala Sule-Garo, the APC deputy governorship candidate in the 2023 election, to assume the role.
The political strategy has sparked widespread discussion among Kano State political analysts, reflecting ongoing party realignments ahead of forthcoming elections.
