The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Niger State Chapter, on behalf of organized labor (NLC & TUC) in Niger State, expresses deep sorrow and outrage over the recent abduction of pupils and staff from St. Mary’s Primary and Secondary School, Papiri, in Agwara Local Government Area.
We extend our heartfelt sympathy to the families of the victims and pray earnestly for the safe and quick return of every child and teacher.
The leadership of the NLC in Niger State, Comrade Abdul Kareem Idrees Lafene, has issued a press statement unequivocally condemning this barbaric act.
He said attacks on educational institutions are a serious violation of human rights and an attack on the future of our nation. The perpetrators must be identified and brought to justice without delay.
In the spirit of solidarity, the NLC of Niger State calls on all security agencies, including the Nigeria Police, the Department of State Services, the military, and local vigilante groups, to intensify coordinated rescue efforts and spare no effort in securing the release of those abducted.
We urge the State and Federal Governments to provide necessary resources, intelligence, and logistical support to security forces and ensure those responsible are prosecuted fully.
He appeals to community and religious leaders to amplify messages of peace, help gather information, and offer moral support to the affected families.
He urges every citizen of Niger State and Nigeria to stay united, avoid panic, and cooperate completely with authorities in any way possible.
We especially call on all stakeholders to rally around His Excellency, the Farmer Governor of Nupe, Mohammad Umaru Bago, Turakin Nupe, whose leadership is vital in confronting the insecurity that threatens our schools, communities, and the nation.
The NLC Niger State remains committed to working with the government, security forces, and all well-meaning citizens to ensure the safe return of the abducted and to create a safer environment for learning across the state.
